LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Unite for Dignity’s leadership building is centered
around the “Travaye Voyan” or “Workers on the Move”
internship program. “Travaye Voyan” is a six-week internship
program in which interns participate in weekly workshops and community
practice. The goal of this program is to build a pipeline of grassroots
immigrant leaders by recruiting interns for skill-building internships.
Interns are a mix of healthcare workers and community activists. The
focus of the internship program is to build individual immigrant leaders’
awareness of crucial issues affecting our community, including the healthcare
crisis and immigrant rights, and to build leaders’ outreach and
advocacy skills on issues affecting them, their families, co-workers,
and communities.
Highlights of UFD’s Internship Program:
- Leadership Building for Immigrant Workers
- The Healthcare crisis in our community
- Immigrant Rights
- Workers’ Rights
- Globalization
- Electoral Power
- Civic Engagement
“Workers on the Move” interns are becoming
leaders fighting for the rights of Florida’s immigrant workers,
their families and communities. As workers graduate out of the internship
program, they become mentors for new interns, and are able
to conduct trainings in the community, and bring knowledge learned back
to their organizations.
Our upcoming internship will take place from April 7th
- May 12th, 2005.
